Raptor’s Prey and More
Raptor’s Prey was finally released a few weeks ago! It is my 10th book and so far the folks who have read it and contacted me have liked it.
Raptor’s Prey takes place mostly in the northern Adirondacks (the “Daks”, for us New Yorkers) of New York State. If you have been fortunate enough to visit that magnificent region of heavy forests, massive mountains, and lakes and rivers galore, I know that you have been swept away by the sheer grandeur of it all.
For everyone else…it’s definitely a ‘Bucket List’ item if you
enjoy nature and outdoor sports all year round. Hiking, fishing, camping, and
boating from late spring through late fall is prime. The fall colors attract
people from all over the world. Winter brings both downhill and cross-country
skiing, snowmobiling, and festivals.
Now let me tell you a little bit about the book:
Dr. Lauren Gifford is an internationally acclaimed aeronautical engineer who has been designing, building, and flying helicopters for years. Most of her work is on combat helicopters through a company that contracts with the federal government. She is also a member of a highly specialized team of accident investigators who respond to every crash of both fixed and rotary wing aircraft.
When she is called to investigate the deadly crash of a helicopter at the sprawling Fort Benning, Georgia, she knows that it must be her brand-new chopper. It was down there for a series of test flights.
Early in the investigation, Lauren finds some irregularities, but, before she can figure out what caused them, she is suddenly removed from the investigation team by the company she works for. Things quickly begin to escalate, and she soon finds herself trying to survive a very real, but largely unknown force invested in making her disappear.
She and her beloved Golden Retriever, Chelsea, head for the one place in the world that has always offered her sanctuary, Gaines Lake, in the Daks. Keegan Gaines is a wounded soldier who has returned home after the helicopter he was flying crashed with mysterious circumstances. He’s out of the Army and doing odd jobs back in the community that bears his family name. He also has a highly secretive and secure business that is well suited to cyberwar.
There are sparks, and an undeniable pull between the two
intelligent and strong-willed people. They both fight their feelings for one
another while trying to join forces to fight the unknown threat that is in the
hunt to locate and silence Lauren.
Raptor’s
Prey is for adults, 18+, due to
language, adult themes, and violence.

Now a little about my next Book:
I have been working on A
Storm Rising which should be released by the spring of 2019. It
takes place on the coast of South Carolina and the desert along the US and
Mexico border.
Nurse Practitioner, Keely O’Brien, has created a
safety net around her life since the death of her Army sniper husband six years
earlier. Recently she has felt the tightness of that life and is ready to
explore beyond it. When she signs up to work for six months in the newly built
camps designed to house refugees and other immigrants, she becomes caught up in
the dark underbelly of human trafficking and the selling of infants and
toddlers. She is finally forced to call for help from a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist
with whom she had a brief affair. Their working together also sparked a
connection that she has missed since she left him.
Cullen Hawke lives in the midst of the most dangerous places and events in the world. As the Chief Foreign Correspondent for a major news organization, he lives for the adrenaline rush and has no intention of settling down…except for the gnawing feeling that he has for the beautiful Keely. Sometimes, in the middle of the night, he can imagine a life with her…but morning always brings the hunt for a news story that needs to be told.
I never have any idea of how
the stories I write will end…but I am hoping for a HEA because I am in
love with both Keely and Cullen, and her pretty white boxer named Lily…. Stay
tuned…
I am also working on Book Two of The Alaskans.
It is the sequel to Whiskey
Run Lodge. I’m very excited to learn how the new lodge and its
new manager, Miranda, and the Conservation Officer, Carson Greely manage the
splendor and the harshness at the base of the Wrangell-St. Elias Mountain Range
on the far eastern edge of Alaska.
